Happy Summer

Happy Summer!

As the school year comes to an end, we know that many families are planning activities to get outside and enjoy the outdoors, travel, and visit with family and friends. I would like to thank you now for supporting your children this year, and thank you in advance for continuing to support and encourage learning during the summer. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

We would like to remind our parents about the importance of summer reading.  We would also like to give you resources to better understand your child's Lexile level and help you find wonderful books for your child to enjoy that are also on his/her reading level.  We encourage you to utilize the public library and their children's summer programs this summer.  Research shows that students who are encouraged to use summer hours to read books that interest them, and are on their Lexile level have tremendous benefits when returning to school in the fall.  The Lexile "Find a book GA" website can help identify books that your child is interested in and able to read.  Let's make sure our students have a good book in their hands this summer when they're not in the classroom!

The following information will assist you in preparing for returning in the fall. Registration for all new students is available at this time by going to the website at http://www.camden.k12.ga.us . Official documents can be scanned from home or if needed be brought by the school and scanned into the system beginning July 27th.  On July 10th you will receive an email with information on registering returning students.  Completing the process outlined in the email is mandatory in order to update and check that accurate and current information is in our data system. Having the correct information on our students is very important for security purposes as well as emergency situations.

There will be someone in the office at MLCES on July 27th /8:30-3:30 to assist you with registration and questions.

I wish you all a summer full of happy times and fun memories.  I will see you soon!
